MECHELEN, Belgium | March 18, 2026: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Thomas More University of Applied Sciences joined forces for the second consecutive year to host their annual hackathon. The event took place on March 16 and 17, 2026, at the Thomas More campus in Mechelen. Over the course of two days, students were challenged to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges across Belgium, with creativity, collaboration and sustainability at the heart of the experience.

The hackathon is built on TCS's goIT (Go Innovate Together) framework and immerses students in an environment where they can apply their skills and learn directly from industry experts. This year, participants worked on cases specifically tailored to five key sectors in Belgium: Education, Banking, Government Services, Travel & Logistics, and Retail. All aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Jipson Mathew, Country Head TCS Belgium, shares: "We are delighted to host this hackathon for the second consecutive year, furthering our industry-leading goIT program focused on digital innovation and preparing students for future careers. This event creates fresh opportunities for students to discover emerging job roles. Through our two-day partnership with Thomas More, which emphasizes design thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and entrepreneurship, we offer an outstanding platform for students, educators, and communities to unite and address Belgium's most significant challenges."

Throughout the two days, students took part in training sessions and worked intensively on their projects. On the second day, more than 160 students, divided into 32 teams, presented their solutions to a jury made up of representatives from both TCS and Thomas More.

For the second year in a row, we created a platform together with TCS where students worked in an interdisciplinary way to shape the future. The Hackathon proved once again to be the perfect place for new ideas to flourish!"

This hackathon once again offered students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build connections with industry professionals, and contribute to solving real challenges across Belgium. TCS and Thomas More remain committed to fostering a culture of innovation and empowering the next generation of technology leaders.

About goIT

goIT, which stands for "go Innovate Together", has been offered free of charge to schools in 49 countries worldwide since 2009. In Belgium, TCS has been focused on engaging local schools since 2022, having already reached more than 1,000 children. To date, TCS has established long-term partnerships with five schools in Flanders: Ba Zandpoort in Mechelen, Technisch Atheneum in Keerbergen, de Bijenkorf in Balen, Labscholen in Puurs, and SO Antwerpen in Antwerp.

Looking ahead, TCS aims to expand the goIT programme to Wallonia and is actively seeking a partner organisation to help deliver workshops and reach an even greater number of schools.
